Johannes (John) Reehl

Johannes (John) Reehl of Modesto died Feb. 11. He was 98.

Reehl was born Sept. 22, 1915, to George and Mary (Dick) Reehl, in the township of Omro, Wis. He grew up in Wisconsin working on the farm with his father. During this time he met his future wife, Dyphna Warnke, and worked in the shipping yard during WWII.

After the war, he moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico, and then to California where he worked for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as a machinist.

Reehl and his wife moved to Modesto in 1970. He was an avid member of the Masons for more than 50 years and graduated to master mason May 22, 1948.

Reehl is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Reehl and his wife, Dyphna Reehl of 71 years. He is survived his son, John (Jan) Reehl; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Road, Turlock, at 11 a.m. He will be interred next to his wife in Fon Du Lac, Wis.
