James "Jim" T. King

James "Jim" T. King died April 20 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 72.

King was born July 3, 1941. He loved classic cars and owned three of them. He also loved collecting die cast cars, traveling and going to car shows. He was an avid bowler for many years.

King was a manager at Jiffy Food Store in Livermore for several years before going on to work at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as a mechanic in the motor pool.

King was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Joyce Ann King. He is survived by his sons, Kevin King and John (Jane) King; grandchildren, Faith King and Jeffery Rombouts; fiancee, Bonny Hutchens; sisters, Barbra Mayer from Bald Knob Ark., Milda Mendenhall from Livermore Calif.; brothers, Terry King from Prineville, Ore., Jimmy King and many nieces and nephews.

King was a loving, gentle and friendly man with a big heart and a caring soul. The world was a better place for knowing him.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on April 30 at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 3873 East Ave., Livermore.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in his name be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
