Eugene Wayne Burke

Eugene Wayne Burke died Sept. 16. He was 90. 

He was born on Sept.24, 1932, in Synarep, Washington. Burke served in the United States Air Force in England during the Korean War, then attended college at Washington State University.  He graduated with honors with a degree in physics. In 1960, he started his career at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) as a nuclear physicist. He worked at LLNL from 1960 – 1995 dedicated to thermonuclear weapon design for the nation’s security stockpile.

He is survived by his two sons, Richard Burke and Kevin Burke (Gina); two grandchildren, Kirsten Burke and Kristopher Burke; and niece and nephews that reside in Washington.
