Douglas E. Bakker

Douglas E. Bakker died Oct. 20 in Grass Valley. He was 69.

Born Oct. 2, 1940, in Modesto to Harold and Margaret Bakker, he received his associate’s degree from Contra Costa College, and later joined the U. S. Armed Services.

He was discharged on July 31, 1965, and began a 35-year career at LLNL.

A member of Branch III of the Gold Country Fly Wheelers Celtrac Club, he enjoyed restoring tractors, as well as riding his motorcycle and reading.

Bakker is survived by his wife, Linda Bakker of Grass Valley; children, Jim Bakker of Covina; Dan Castro, Theresa Laird, Nancy Douglas and Kathy Corrison; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Glen, Bruce and Alan Bakker.
