Donald Walker Freeman

Donald Walker Freeman of Sequim, Wash., died Aug. 30 from complications of liver cancer. He was 85.

Born July 13, 1927 in Modesto to Arvilla Elizabeth Wood and George Walker Freeman, he married Marilyn Mae Clarke on Aug. 5, 1951, in Stockton.

Freeman served in the U.S. Army from 1945-46. He was a graduate of the University of the Pacific in Stockton and had one year of post-graduate work.

He worked as a computer scientist at the Cutter Laboratory in Berkeley, Calif., and at LLNL.

He enjoyed studying, especially theology and science, and traveling to other areas, including overseas.

He enjoyed nature and family camping trips, hiking and backpacking in the High Sierras of California. He continued hiking with his wife in Olympic National Park and surrounding areas. He was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Sequim.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Freeman; sons, Michael Freeman of Sequim and Guy Freeman of Seattle, Wash.; daughters, Diana Deno and Stacey Meyers, both of Sequim; grandchildren, Jason Worth, James Worth, Clarke Freeman, Anna Freeman and Dezmond Freeman; and great-grandchildren, Tidus, Nickole and Alex Worth.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 22 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 525 North Fifth Avenue, Sequim. A reception will immediately follow in the parish hall at the same address.
