Dolores J. Stringer

Dolores J. Stringer, a former longtime Tracy resident, died Sept. 15 at San Ramon Regional Medical Center. She was 82.

A native Californian, Stringer was born in Oakland, grew up in Tracy and graduated from Tracy High School. She worked at the phone company in Tracy, at H.J. Heinz Co. and at LLNL for 17 years.

She spent most of her married life in Tracy, except for a 10-year period in Stockton. Upon her husband’s retirement, the couple returned to Tracy, and after his death in 2006, she moved to Danville.

Stringer is survived by her sons, Steven Stringer of Lake Oswego, Ore. and Scott Stringer and his wife, Irene of Danville; stepsons, Skip Webb of Port Angeles, Wash. and John Stringer and his wife, Laura of Camarillo, Calif.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Fred Stringer, in 2006; and her parents, Cyril and Olive Hopkins.
