Clarence E. Chittenden

Clarence E. "Gene" Chittenden died May 12. He was 88.

Born Dec. 24, 1925, in Dodge City, Kan. to Clarence E. and Emma L. Chittenden, he grew up in La Junta, Colo. and Vallejo. He graduated from Vallejo High School and served in World War II in the 8th Cavalry Regiment, U. S. Army, in the Pacific.

He attended California Polytechnic Institute and then went on to graduate from San Jose State University. He worked at LLNL and later at Lawrence Berkeley Lab until his retirement in 1985 after 28 years of service.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father and his brothers, Larry and Theron.

He is survived by his brothers, Glen Chittenden and Norman Chittenden, and many nieces and nephews.

Interment took place at Sunrise Memorial Cemetery, Vallejo, in a private family ceremony.
