Charles B. Schuchardt Jr.

Charles Berry (Chuck) Schuchardt Jr. died May 22. He was 77.

Schuchardt, known as Chuck, C.B., Pops and Coach, was born Jan. 3, 1937, in Findlay, Ohio to Charles Berry Schuchardt Sr. and Olive Schuchardt. He grew up in Livermore, was a 1955 graduate of Livermore High School and served in the U.S. Navy. Upon his return, he attended Diablo Valley College and had a long career as an electrician at GE Vallecitos, Kaiser and retired from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He met and married the love of his life Rosa Schuchardt and lived for 18 years in Cuernavaca, Mexico where they traveled, socialized and forged many lasting friendships.

An avid sports fan, Schuchardt followed the SF 49ers, Golden State Warriors and for several years held season tickets to the San Jose Earthquakes. He was a certified soccer coach and coached Livermore's first girls Al Caffodio soccer team in Livermore. He also scrimmaged with the Oakland Raiders while he was in the Navy based in Alameda.

Schuchardt  is preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Jane Stone (Richard). He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Rosa Schuchardt; children, Sandee Schuchardt (Brad Sayre), Bruce Schuchardt (Annette), Ricardo Cortez (Terri), Julio Cortez (Carmen), Noe Cortez (Lisette) and Erika Mendez (Adam); 19 grandchildren;  one great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial will be held June 21 at 2 p.m. at Sequoia Gardens Park, 433 Fulton Road in Santa Rosa. He will be interred June 27 at 11 a.m. at Memory Gardens, 3873 East Ave. in Livermore.
