Carol Passos

Carol Janice Passos, a retired associate administrator, and 33-year resident of Las Vegas, died Jan. 14. She was 65.

Born in San Diego, she grew up in nearby Mission Bay.

Her career spanned 26 years. She was an associate administrator for the project leader of the Yucca Mountain Project at LLNL.

She met her husband, Edward, and followed him to the Nevada desert, along with their daughter, Tammy, where they all enjoyed race cars, riding motorcycles and camping in the desert.

Passos was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved to read, especially science fiction books.

Carol is survived by her husband, Edward S. Passos Jr.; daughter, Tamara L. Elliott; and granddaughter, Carol Anne Elliott; stepdaughter, Ramona Crossley and her husband, Mark, and their children and grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m., Jan. 21, at Affordable Cremation and Burial, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., Las Vegas, Nev.
