Bob Berlo

Robert Berlo, a Lab retiree and Livermore resident, died Aug. 1, from complications of kidney cancer. He was 71.

During his career at the Lab, he was an editor in TID, editorial division leader and deputy department head.

Born March 29, 1941 in San Francisco, he was descended from a large German-American family.

Berlo donated his collection of maps to the Stanford Library — it was a set that includes maps from every state and California maps that went back to 1927. See the article on the Stanford News Website.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Juanita Berlo of Livermore; his sons, Mark and John Berlo; grandchildren, Dominic and Jessica Berlo; his brother, William Berlo; and his sisters, Joyce Dowling, Claire Schaffer, Marcelyn Berlo, Jean Robertson and Lea Berleau.

A service will be held at St. Michael's Church Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and a mass on Aug. 8 at 11 a.m. For additional information, go to the CFCS Website.
