Billy L. Maranville

Billy L. Maranville, a Lab retiree, died Dec. 28. He was 89.

Born in Wheeling, W. Va on Aug. 11, 1923, he served in the U.S. Navy as a gunnery instructor.

He worked at the Lab for 28 years as a mechanical engineer, retiring in 1984.

Maranville was a master builder of free flight model airplanes and won many trophies and awards. He was a past master in the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, music, wine making, traveling and dancing with his wife and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty; two daughters, Janet and Susan; son William; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Services will be held Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 2020 Fifth Street, Livermore. Donations may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, 2020 Fifth Street, Livermore, CA 94550.
