Beatrice A. Baer

Beatrice Andrea Baer of Livermore died May 17. 

Baer was born on Feb. 4, 1929, in the Town of Bellvue, Colorado. She was a resident of Alameda County since 1958 and resided in Livermore since 1964. She was a Navy wife and served the country alongside her husband Paul for more than 20 years. She was the president of the Navy Wives Club at Komandorski Village, Dublin, California, where she assisted many wives in adjusting to the military lifestyle. She taught them how to come together as a community and aid each other when in need.

When they moved to Alameda County, Baer went to work for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where she worked as the test program librarian for 33 years. She retired from LLNL and went on to being a devoted grandmother.

She loved to spend time with family and friends, sharing stories of her childhood growing up on the family farm, how she met her husband and stories of her children growing up. She maintained a book of stories, as well as a family tree, with all family members birthdays and contact information. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Baer was preceded in death by her parents ,Abdon M. Padilla and Tircia Gallegos Padilla of Bellvue, Colorado. She was one of 16 children -- eight brothers and eight sisters, all who have preceded her in death.

Baer was married to her beloved husband, Paul J. Baer, on Feb. 12, 1949 and they shared 54 years together until his death on Nov. 22, 2003. They are survived by their three children, Katherine A. Baer of Royal Oaks, California; Susan M. Quintoa of Merced; California;and Terry W. Baer of Briceville, Tennessee. The Baer family grew larger with 13 grandchildren,35 great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and the various family friends that the couple adopted along the way. So many people that came into their lives became a part of the Baer family.

A celebration of life was recently held at Callaghan Mortuary in Livermore. An online guestbook is available for condolences.
