I chose to return as a summer scholar because I wanted to continue working in Cyber Security and Infrastructure where I am studying and developing algorithms for collaborative autonomy and decentralized iterative methods. I have found the environment of LLNL to be a compelling avenue for collaborative research motivated by real world applications, which in my case are issues related to modernizing the electrical grid. As a PhD student in Mathematics, this provides a meaningful context to apply high-level abstractions and scientific computing to solve concrete problems.
