Office of Government and External Affairs
Forging Critical Relationships
What We Do
Within Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), the Office of Government and External Affairs (OGEA) works to help widen knowledge of and deepen support for LLNL research and development efforts by carrying out institutional engagement at all levels of government, and with key external leaders.
Along with developing relationships with federal, state, regional and local government stakeholders, as well as nongovernment organizations, OGEA manages the Offsite Fellows and Laboratory Tour programs.
Our Areas of Focus

Federal, State, Regional, Local and External Relations
OGEA oversees engagement with the U.S. Congress and the California State Legislature by, among other things, facilitating briefings and testimony on scientific and technical aspects of policy issues. It also supports engagement with other federal, state and local officials as well as private sector partners.

Offsite Fellows Program
The Offsite Fellows Program provides critical expertise and assistance to the national security community by placing LLNL employees on short-term fellowships with key government partners. Offsite Fellows offer immediate assistance on scientific and technical issues and foster relationships with host organizations to help execute essential missions.
