Statement by LLNL Director Michael Anastasio on the appointment of Robert Kuckuck as Los Alamos National Laboratory Interim Director

LIVERMORE, Calif. — Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Director Michael Anastasio today issued the following statement on the appointment of Robert Kuckuck as Interim Director of Los Alamos National Laboratory:

"I look forward to working with Bob Kuckuck at Los Alamos as part of the UC team. I have known Bob for many years and in that time he has excelled at every assignment he has been given. He has experience in every facet of running a laboratory – whether it is science and technology or operations and management. His experience at UC, NNSA and LLNL make him a natural choice to lead Los Alamos as Interim Director.

"I also wish to congratulate Pete Nanos on the work he did at LANL. Pete came in during extraordinary times, but through his leadership he has been able to move the lab forward to implement the necessary changes for the future."

Founded in 1952, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory has a mission to ensure national security and to apply science and technology to the important issues of our time. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is managed by the University of California for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration.
