Statement on Jimmy Sanderson

Our Laboratory, the University of California police department and Department of Energy officials fully support the efforts of The Livermore Police Department on this investigation.

Mr. Sanderson has been employed as a senior computer programming technologist at the laboratory since April 2002. Upon his arrest, Mr. Sanderson’s access to the Lab was immediately denied and his badge was retrieved.  He was placed on unpaid leave. His office was sealed and secured. Mr. Sanderson worked in an unclassified area of the laboratory. We have already reviewed Mr. Sanderson’s work from a counterintelligence perspective.  No counterintelligence issues were identified. 

We are deeply concerned about this situation and the impact it has already had on the victims, our employees and the community.  We will continue to cooperate and support all aspects of the investigation.
