LLNL Media Statement on Kotla Case

“We certainly appreciate the time and effort that the jury gave to this very difficult case. The split decision and seven days of jury deliberations are acknowledgments to the varied opinions that continue to exist on these accusations. Dee Kotla admitted to her use of lab equipment for outside business — a clear violation of lab policy. In addition, she admitted that during the investigation into her outside business activities she deleted computer files relating to her misuse. This misconduct is the reason she was terminated. The Lab is seriously considering appealing this extreme award.”
