Women’s Association to award scholarships

In conjunction with Women’s History Month, the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory Women’s Association (LLLWA) will present scholarship awards to eight employees on Wednesday, March 18, from noon-1 p.m. in the Bldg. 543 auditorium. Monya Lane, acting associate director for Engineering, will be the guest speaker.

The scholarship program provides financial support to employees in their pursuit of educational training as a means of career and personal advancement. Started in 1984, the program is celebrating its 25th year. To date, 177 individuals have received scholarship awards, including four men.

All employees are invited to attend the award ceremony.

A research highlight reports on Livermore’s work with government and industry to integrate wind energy into the nation’s electrical infrastructure. A second highlight describes powerful amplifiers that strengthen our ability to detect axions for the first time. A third highlight reports on a decontamination kit for the self-treatment of exposure to toxic chemicals.
