New website aims high for veterans, service members

The Veterans/Military Outreach and Recruiting Program at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has launched a new external website today, on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, to exemplify the Laboratory’s commitment to veterans and armed forces service members.

The goal of the new website and the mission of the Veterans/Military Outreach and Recruiting Program is to build and maintain a population pipeline at LLNL by providing career opportunities and information about the Lab’s programs unique to veterans and service members.

“There is a unique set of skills held by service members and veterans that are of value to LLNL,” said Shaun Stephenson, Veteran/Military Strategic Outreach and Recruiting Program manager. “We want to maximize those skill sets so they may continue their passion for this nation through a career at the Laboratory.”

The Laboratory maintains a strong connection to the military community through:

  • Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps awareness
  • Internships
    • Reserve Officers' Training Corps
    • Military Academic Research Associates
    • Service academies
    • Career Skills Program/SkillBridge transitioning service personnel
    • Active duty
  • Partnership support with veteran-owned and disabled veteran-owned small business contracts
  • Veteran full-time employment

This institutional initiative is led by Strategic Human Resources Management in the Operations and Business Directorate and the Office of Defense Coordination.

The site was developed by the program team and key partners Barry Goldman, May Kaiser, Nick Lola, Amy Simpson, Mike Skeels and  Stephenson.
