New issue of S&TR is online

The October/November 2011 issue of Science & Technology Review is now online. This issue's feature article, "Weapons Diagnostics Technology Revolutionizes Cancer Treatment," describes how a Livermore particle accelerator technology is becoming a tool to save the lives of cancer patients. Two highlights report on this year's R&D 100 Award winners: a lightweight, scalable tool that quickly identifies a supercomputer's code errors and a light deflector that will capture details of burning plasma in fusion reactions with unprecedented performance metrics. A final highlight describes how Livermore researchers are examining the geochemical processes that control plutonium's underground migration behavior.
