New issue of Science & Technology Review now online (2013)

The July/August 2013 issue of Science & Technology Review is now online . This issue's feature story, "Reaching for New Computational Heights with Sequoia," describes how years of planning and partnerships are yielding dividends as Sequoia assumes its role in support of stockpile stewardship.

A highlight honors Johnny Foster Jr., one of the Laboratory's greatest leaders, at age 90. Another highlight reports on laser experiments at the National Ignition Facility that are revealing new characteristics of diamond when compressed to extremely high pressures. A final highlight describes how simulations and experiments are producing intriguing results on previously not well-understood acceleration mechanisms inside dense plasma focus Z-pinches.
