LLNL honored for contributions to career technical education
Lab representatives were among those from business and industry who were acknowledged for contributions to the success of Career Technical Education (CTE) programs in the Livermore, Pleasanton and Dublin school districts, as well as Las Positas College.
Neal Ely, dean of Math, Science, Engineering and Public Safety at Las Positas College, recognized LLNL for the Science and Engineering Seminar Series -- "Theory to Practice: How Science Gets Done." The series is designed to enhance the partnership shared by the two Livermore institutions and provides a forum for Laboratory scientists and engineers to share their broad range of basic and applied research with the college's scientific community of students, staff and faculty.
The Lab also was recognized along with Chevron Corporation and Contra Costa STEM Workforce Initiative for its support to the Engineering Pathways program in the Livermore, Pleasanton and Dublin school districts. As partners, companies assist students with real-world experiences by providing role models, mentors, speakers, field trip opportunities and financial support.
