June issue of S&TR now online

The June 2012 issue of Science & Technology Review   is now online . This issue's feature article, "Seeking Clues to Climate Change," reports on how Livermore scientists compare past climate records with results from computer simulations to better understand why Earth's climate has changed and how it might change in the future.

A highlight describes how computer scientists have developed innovative methods to detect hardware faults in supercomputers and help applications recover from errors that occur. A second highlight features enhanced cryogenic targets for National Ignition Facility experiments, which are furthering work to achieve fusion ignition with energy gain. A third highlight reports on a new generation of implantable prosthetics that offer hope to patients with debilitating conditions caused by injury or neurological disease.
