Girls to explore science and math careers at ‘Expanding Your Horizons’ conference

"Dream, Imagine, Explore," the 28th annual Tri-Valley Expanding Your Horizons in Science and Math Conference, will be held Saturday, Feb. 24, at the AT&T Administrative Center in San Ramon. The conference begins at 8:15 a.m.

The daylong conference is held for young women, grades 6-12, from Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton, San Ramon and Sunol school districts to increase interest and foster awareness of careers in math and science. Young women also have opportunities to meet and interact with role models who are active in math- and science-related careers.

This year's conference will feature hands-on workshops, a special activity presented by the Oakland Zoo and a career and museum fair.

In addition to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories, California, sponsors of the conference include the American Association of University Women, California Academy of Sciences, Clorox and Cole-Parmer Instrument Company.

Registration is limited and open through Monday, Feb. 12. For additional information about the conference, go to the Tri-Valley EYH Website or call the conference hotline at 925-422-2453.

Founded in 1952, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory has a mission to ensure national security and to apply science and technology to the important issues of our time.
