Former Lab interns selected for DOE Science & Energy Research Challenge

Five of LLNL's former summer students have been accepted to participate in the DOE 2010 Science & Energy Research Challenge (SERCh) -- a premier scientific research competition in energy solutions for undergraduate student interns and other students. The event will take place Nov. 14-15 at Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois.

The students are: Erik Archibald, physical sciences, Brigham Young University; Michael Driscoll, computational science, UC Berkeley; Forrest Iandola, computational science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign;  Matthew Snow, physical sciences,  Brigham Young University-Idaho; and Han Wang, engineering, UC Berkeley.

The SERCh Poster Competition showcases the research projects of DOE-funded undergraduate students and interns at the national laboratories. More than 300 students applied to SERCh and approximately 120 were selected to present their posters and vie for scholarship awards.

During the competition weekend, students will attend seminars and tour user facilities at Argonne National Laboratory.
