Firefighters contain small grass fire at Site 300

LIVERMORE, Calif. — Alameda County firefighters have contained a small grass fire on the Laboratory’s Site 300. The fire, estimated to be from 4-5 acres, began about 3:10 p.m. and was contained by 3:45 p.m.

No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported. Mutual aid has responded.

Site 300 is the LLNL’s experimental test site, located about 17 miles southeast of the Lab’s main site.

The fire started near the southern perimeter of the test site, across the street from Carnegie Recreational Area.

Further information will be provided as more details become available.

LLNL emergency organizations will provide continuous assessments of the situation and maintain communication with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration and off-site authorities.
