Job Description

We have an opening for a Program Administrator in the Weapon Physics and Design (WPD) Program. You will be a key member of the program’s senior management team and will work independently to plan, execute, and/or provide oversight to a variety of workforce, operational and program requirements, and activities. This position is the Weapons and Complex Integration (WCI) Directorate.

This position will be filled at either the A01.2 or A01.3 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.

Essential Duties

  • Experience leading and overseeing a variety of cross-organizational and/or integrated projects.
  • Organizational planning data in support of strategic planning activities for the Program.
  • Represent Program Director with correspondence, coordinating, communicating, and disseminating information in collaboration with Executive Assistant.
  • Research, analyze, prepare, and assemble information and data from multiple and diverse sources; coordinate findings and other information with senior-level individuals, both internal and external to the Laboratory.
  • Track and take action on program deliverables and milestones.
  • Manage and oversee the WPD awards and recognition program and the non-reimbursable (NR) budget.
  • Lead the coordination and execution of classified program reviews, meetings, workshops, and conferences of a technical nature.
  • Serve as a representative for internal and external committees.
  • Analyze and interpret institutional and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Primary point of contact for program and detailee assignments.
  • Develop and implement plans to promote culture, diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

In Addition at the A01.3 Level

  • Oversee, direct, develop, implement and lead PD personnel functions, workforce planning, staff development, and diversity programs. Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to personnel in all classifications.
  • Provide high-level facilitation and collaboration with senior WCI managers to achieve long-range programmatic goals, serving as a member of the senior management team and participating in all aspects of business and workforce planning, operational issues, and strategic planning activities in collaboration with PD management.


  • Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of significant experience and education in a business, operational, and/or organizational area.
  • Experience working on organizational projects and experience researching, interpreting, and applying related policies and procedures.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact tactfully and effectively with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the Laboratory, and to explain, negotiate, persuade, and lead staff and management through conflict resolution in order to obtain consent and action on complex matters, achieving desirable outcomes.
  • Effective analytical, research, and problem-solving skills to independently and successfully resolve unique problems.
  • Experience participating in strategic planning activities.
  • Effective skills with personal computers and associated software (word processing, spreadsheets, and databases).
  • Demonstrated leadership and commitment to diversity and fostering an inclusive and equitable organization.

In Addition at the A01.3 Level

  • Experience leading and supervising business, operational and/or organizational activities; participating in a variety of organizational projects and researching, interpreting, implementing, and applying a wide variety of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Experience overseeing internal and external audits, assessments, action items, or high-level inquiries
