Pay Range
$132,810 - $204,636 Annually
$132,810 - $170,556 Annually at the SES.2 level
$159,330 - $204,636 Annually at the SES.3 level
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
Job Description
We have one opening for a Full Stack Web Developer matrixed to the Recharge Services Division within the Technical Information Department (TID). The selected candidate will be responsible for building websites (design, development, and maintenance of external and internal websites), database administration, server administration, and org-level application development . This position will work independently to develop websites, maintain existing TID infrastructure/databases, and develop applications that meets the needs of external and internal collaborators, senior management, and administrative personnel. This position is in the IT Solutions Division within the Computing Directorate.
This position offers a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You will have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.
You will
- Collaborate with UX Designers to develop front end interfaces and UI interactions while ensuring best practices including responsive design.
- Work with the team lead to develop and implement innovative ideas for continually improving user experience, code quality, and productivity.
- Manage Linux servers running RHEL. Configure and maintain open-source tools and software such as Apache, NGINX, MariaDB, SMTP, DNS, and SSH.
- Develop custom work-group applications to fulfill a variety of needs as directed by the client.
- Partner with clients, graphic designers, and editors to define, develop, and establish objectives to meet the web specification requirements for projects, frequently responsible for customer contact and consultation.
- Independently address technical issues and provide solutions related to institutional compatibility, support, and system needs.
- Independent interactions with all levels of personnel within own organization and frequent interactions with customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional job responsibilities, at the SES.3 level
- Provide direction on best practices and implementation of web applications, CMS utilization, UI/UX design principals, and scripting for multiple internal and external sites.
- Identify and present improvements to the WordPress farm and relevant technology and tools that can be leveraged for custom development efforts.
- Independently determine project objectives and scope, establishing commitments of cost, schedule, and quality of assignments.
Qualifications
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of server architecture and troubleshooting, Linux, Apache, and MySQL. Proficient knowledge of MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
- Experience using latest technologies and practices with a diverse set of software and applications, such as Docker, MariaDB, MongoDB, and Git.
- Experience building sites, developing themes, and creating/modifying modules for Content Management Systems (CMS), such as Drupal, WordPress, and Liferay.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current trends and best practices in web architecture and design such as performance, accessibility, UI/UX design, prototyping, scalability, compliance, and usability.
- Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Broad experience managing projects and establishing commitments while demonstrating written and verbal communication skills necessary to interact tactfully and effectively with a diverse group of personalities, disciplines, and customers
Additional qualifications at the SES.3 level
- Significant experience establishing commitments of cost, schedule, scope, and quality of projects with limited direction.
- Advanced knowledge of LAMP server architecture and troubleshooting.
- Advanced knowledge of the latest technologies and best practices in CMS, web architecture, scripting, UI/UX design principles, and framework software.
Qualifications We Desire
- Proficiency with build tools such as Node.js, NPM, Docker or Laravel.
- Knowledge of caching mechanisms like varnish, Memcached, Redis

Security Clearance
This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
