Pay Range
$35.98 - $43.67 Hourly
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. Job Description
We're looking for a Custodian Supervisor. You will have technical, administrative, and supervisory responsibility for managing and coordinating the work of a custodian crew. This position is in the Infrastructure Engineering and Operations Department and may require work at Site 300, which is located in Tracy, California
This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.
You will
- Supervise, direct, and coordinate the work of a custodian crew in general housekeeping, floor finishing, carpet cleaning, outside cleanup, window washing, and other custodian assignments in support of LLNL’s buildings/facilities.
- Coordinate work with building and programmatic personnel and other disciplines; plan and schedule work assignments, set priorities, make commitments related to assignments, and interpret guidelines and procedures.
- Serve as point-of-contact on communications between the group and management team and participate fully in management team decision making and goal setting; and maintain good work relationships with clients and management.
- Serve as the administrative supervisor responsible for performance evaluation/management, team building, timecard approvals, training, and personnel actions that include participating in interviews, hiring decisions, discipline, dismissal, salary adjustments; prepare injury reports, corrective actions, reports, and related follow-up to management.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and LLNL ES&H, security, and business requirements and policies/procedures.
- Perform duties of a custodian, as required for training purposes, and tasks such as managing and maintaining stock, maintaining equipment, meeting customers’ requests/backlog.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Extensive, advanced, and specialized skills, knowledge, and abilities in custodial tasks such as cleaning duties inside/outside of buildings (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming), operating heavy duty floor cleaning and carpet care machines, preparing standard reports, inventory checklists, etc.
- Supervisory experience including independent decision making, workload scheduling, workforce utilization, budgeting, interpretation and implementation of personnel policies and procedures, execution of disciplinary actions, and completion of performance appraisals.
- Extensive and advanced knowledge and skills applying related safety codes, laws, and regulations and in administrative, equipment and tools training.
- Experience evaluating job hazards, and establishing safety standards to assure the public, workers, and environment are protected from adverse consequences.
- Effective customer service and communication skills necessary to interact in writing and verbally with all levels of personnel.
- Basic experience with computers and software to include Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, including scheduled and emergency overtime work that may take place in various LLNL buildings/facilities/areas.
- Valid California driver's license.

Site 300
Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL. Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis).
Security Clearance
This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
Pre-Employment Drug Test
External applicant(s) selected for this position must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Per the Department of Energy (DOE), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory must meet certain restrictions with the use and/or possession of mobile devices in Limited Areas. Depending on your job duties, you may be required to work in a Limited Area where you are not permitted to have a personal and/or laboratory mobile device in your possession. This includes, but not limited to cell phones, tablets, fitness devices, wireless headphones, and other Bluetooth/wireless enabled devices.
If you use a medical device, which pairs with a mobile device, you must still follow the rules concerning the mobile device in individual sections within Limited Areas. Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities require separate approval. Hearing aids without wireless capabilities or wireless that has been disabled are allowed in Limited Areas, Secure Space and Transit/Buffer Space within buildings.
