Pay Range

$22.10 - $30.00 Hourly for the 705.1 level
$25.10 - $32.12 Hourly for the 714.0 level

This position is under a step structure.  Please note that the step placement is determined by your most recent completed academic year.

Job Description

We have openings for undergraduate students to support and engage in practical research experience to further their educational goals. Opportunities include completing research and working on various projects within atmospheric science, climate and carbon cycle research, seismology, hydrology, geoscience, environmental science, accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS), and energy research. Our mission is to integrate atmospheric, earth, and energy sciences in support of defense and global security. You will 

  • Work with engineers, scientists, and technical staff members to provide technical and/or research support to projects in the areas relevant to atmospheric, earth, and energy sciences.
  • Participate in research in assigned area under close supervision.
  • Gather and analyze data or information in support of scientific research.
  • Present/communicate results to research group.
  • Perform technical assignments of a basic degree of complexity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be a continuing college or university student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing an undergraduate degree in geophysics, engineering or related field.
  • Ability to apply basic engineering or scientific principles to solve technical problems.
  • Ability to participate in research and present and communicate concepts and ideas including research project(s), document work and give a technical talk/presentation.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience working with personal computers and familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
