Pay Range
$153,210 to $196,788 Annually
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.
Job Description
We have an opening for a Senior Java Developer. You will work on new and emerging enterprise web applications supporting the centralized security and clearance organization. You will support the maintenance of sophisticated Java-based Web Services and JavaScript-based Angular UI’s. This position is in the Enterprise Applications Services Division within the Computation Directorate and in support of the LivIT Business Enablement Program Area.
In this role you will
- Support critical business functions through the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of applications and systems using the latest tools and technologies including Java, JDBC, JavaScript, Spring boot, TOAD, Hibernate, OOD, SQL, and Oracle.
- Contribute software development expertise to multiple projects and ensure that specifications are met.
- Design, code, implement, test, debug, maintain, and document software applications.
- Follow established software development standards and procedures and contribute towards their improvement.
- Research, develop and write complex high end, mission critical, role-based enterprise level web services.
- Prepare technical standards, provide technical advice and guidance, and collaborate with other programmers to conceptualize and develop design.
- Design applications in a microservice based architecture.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration with concentration in Computer Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Significant experience in Java applications development, such as, Java, Hibernate, JPA, DI and Web Services.
- Significant experience with Angular, AngularJS, HTML5, and a basic understanding of CSS/SCSS.
- Advanced knowledge and significant experience with JavaScript and a basic understanding of TypeScript.
- Advanced knowledge and significant experience with cross-browser testing and compatibility.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to work effectively with application developers, system programmers, and other technical staff.
Qualifications We Desire
- Prior experience with an API Gateway.
- Prior experience with AWS Cloud.

Security Clearance
This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
