Pay Range
$153,210 - $196,788 Annually for the SES.3 level
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.
Job Description
We have an opening for a Nuclear Materials Integration Manager. You will plan, manage, and integrate projects involving a highly complex set of cross-organizational endeavors, involving programmatic projects, equipment capitalization, resource and special nuclear materials management to support weapons missions and capabilities. You will be responsible for interfacing with Program Directors, Associate Program Leaders, Principal Investigators and deconflicting all programmatic activities requiring nuclear materials at LLNL’s nuclear facilities under time-sensitive conditions and of various complexities. This position is in the Materials Science Division.
You will
- Pursue proposed opportunities, plan schedules, assess resource requirements, and oversee project development and maturity, including all integration points in design and execution with the Nuclear Materials program element.
- Lead feasibility reviews with Nuclear Materials Associate Program Leaders on proposed projects/experiments to validate execution assumptions.
- Oversee new programmatic initiatives to ensure operational readiness and agility of the Nuclear Materials Program, including by building a system to manage the portfolio of capital equipment and critical capabilities.
- Use current project management methods and tools to develop analytics and reporting criteria to ensure successful programmatic project execution.
- Develop integrated material plan for nuclear materials. Work with program element stakeholders to develop integrated mitigation strategies when projects experience delays.
- Work closely with cross-organizational element managers to ensure project statuses are up to date and resources are deconflicted. These statuses will be reported to respective Program Directors monthly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Active DOE Q clearance required at time of hire.
- M.S. in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or related field or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in successfully negotiating efforts across multiple disciplines in nuclear materials operations.
- Detailed understanding of compliance requirements of DOE 474.2, reporting requirements and its implementation within nuclear facilities.
- Significant experience working independently and responsively to changing priorities.
- Advanced knowledge of nuclear materials operations, specifically pyrochemistry, analytical chemistry, metallurgy, material flowsheets, Material Control & Accountability requirements.
- Significant experience executing project reviews, utilizing project controls methods and integrating under dynamic conditions.
- Expert communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills necessary to present, explain, and advise senior management.
- Ability to travel.
Qualifications We Desire
- PhD in physical sciences or experience in related field.
- Experience executing technical activities within a nuclear materials program at a national laboratory.
- Experience as a fissile material handler.
- Significant experience leading program execution planning effort.
