Pay Range
$109,350 - $135,756 Annually for job Level 393.1
$132,360 - $164,328 Annually for job Level 393.2
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.
Job Description
We have an opening for a Data Center Facility Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of LivIT Data Center facilities including all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the data center(s). The Data Center Facility Manager will help ensure overall availability, performance, safety, and security while keeping operating costs in facilities at a minimum.
This position will be filled at either the 393.1 or 393.2 level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
Business needs dictate that this position requires an on-site presence multiple days a week. Therefore, telecommuting options will be limited.
In this role you will
- Serve as the Program’s front line for all LivIT Data Center, facilities, and operational issues, including hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting in coordination with LLNL SMEs.
- Coordinate and direct team members and internal/external service organizations in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Collaborate with LLNL SMEs to maintain and operate mission-critical data center facility equipment that includes electrical, mechanical, emergency monitoring and alarm systems.
- Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure and ensure that work is completed to the highest level of quality, following LLNL environment, safety, health, security, and LivIT Operational standards, without impacting internal and external customers.
- Routinely work outside normal business hours and on-call for the LivIT data centers, responding to issues and managing the investigation, mitigation, and recovery of all issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional job responsibilities at the 393.2 Level
- Drive new and improvement projects from conception to completion, requiring collaboration with a variety of support teams.
- Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures.
- Manage multiple advanced parallel tasks and priorities of customers and stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met, while leveraging team members’ skills.
Qualifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in a Computer or Engineering related field, or equivalent combination of technical training, experience, and/or electrical or mechanical certifications.
- Comprehensive experience performing root cause analysis and technical troubleshooting.
- Extensive experience following accurate and complete support procedures, system documentation, and issue tracking entries.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of working in a data center or other critical environment, with electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite platforms such as, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Projects, and Visio.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and present and explain project and technical information.
Additional Qualifications at the 393.2 Level
- Highly advanced verbal and written communication skill necessary to represent the organization and draft and/or present technical documentation and business justifications.
- Advanced experience leading and directing the work of team members and internal/external service organizations in a multi-disciplinary environment.
