Pay Range

$114,630.00  - $142,332.00  Annually

Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.

Job Description

We have an opening for a Configuration Management Group Leader to provide leadership and direction to a diverse staff of Configuration Management professionals. The configuration management disciplines in this group are underground utility line location, Regulatory Permit issuance, Technical Documentation of Real Property, and AutoCad Drawing Maintenance and Control. You will be responsible for the configuration management and control of underground utility identification and documentation; processing soil, excavation, concrete, and masonry permits; coordinating all electrical low voltage out-of-service requests; identifying, verifying, labeling, and updating real property assets; maintaining and updating electrical panel schedules, building equipment drawings, and one line piping and instrumentation diagrams; provide AutoCad support for building, roof, and landscape drawings.

You will

  • Provide high-level technical and administrative leadership in the areas of the Asbestos Maintenance Program including the collection and regular reporting of related data.
  • Direct technical personnel supporting the implementation and execution of projects; including budget, quality assurance, efficiency, safety, and effective completion of utility line locating, facility equipment configuration management, and AutoCAD.
  • Observe and direct the execution of daily work assignments over technical work groups and assure work is performed safely and in compliance with all training and work control requirements. This includes training compliance, work order assignment, work completion review, and closeout.
  • Collaborate with programmatic clients, administrative, scientific, and technical personnel throughout LLNL's programs and facilities to plan, organize, or resolve issues associated with facility equipment documentation, configuration control, and the permit systems in support of the mission of the programs at LLNL.
  • Provide leadership and have full supervisory responsibility to group members including personnel actions and the administration of policies and procedures consisting of performance management, career development, mentoring, and recruiting.
  • Provide strategic thinking, leadership, work direction, and oversight to modernize the area configuration management processes including the transition to an electronic format. This includes Configuration Maintenance Management Systems, the Building Drain Database, Soil and Concrete Permit Database, Low-Voltage Outage Permit Databases, Global Information System implementation, and Utility Line Locating.
  • Manage Issues Tracking System (ITS) actions and ensure closure in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and standards for Utility Line Locating, permitting, and technical documentation. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering technology discipline or related field; or equivalent combination of education and related experience with significant related experience in construction, maintenance, or operations of facilities/utilities systems.
  • Significant technical and administrative leadership skills and experience leading a team, project, or group providing technical direction, conflict resolution, career development, performance management, employee selection, and specific on-the-job training.
  • Advanced knowledge and significant experience in one or more technologies of the work unit, such as permitting processes, utility line locating requirements, business, or financial practices - including budget planning and execution, document control, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, or work management systems.
  • Advanced technical and administrative experience providing project oversight including planning, interpreting, and reviewing the work of others.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently establish or improve work procedures to resolve complex technical problems.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills necessary to effectively partner and interact with all levels of management including supervisors, project engineers, facility managers, and scientific personnel to determine the type and level of support needed.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in the application of Safety policies and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with software such as Microsoft Office, Building Automation Systems, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL.  Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis).

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.  If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
