Pay Range
$5,380- $7,372 Monthly
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.
Job Description
We have an opening for a Project Management Academic Graduate Appointee. You will work under the guidance of staff members to provide support on technical projects. By assisting technical projects in a project manager capacity, your responsibilities may include helping manage budgets, coordinating communication among the team, overseeing infrastructure projects, assisting in lab safety/organization, providing advice on how to best proceed on projects, and researching policy and/or how to make processes more efficient. This position is in the Materials Engineering Division (MED), within the Engineering Directorate.
In this role you Will
- Work under general guidance of staff with experience in areas such as project engineering, project management, mechanical engineering, biomaterials engineering, and materials science, to assist Project Leads in successfully executing on their projects.
- Conduct, analyze, and present data from experiments to develop and improve the understanding of biomaterials.
- Propose and implement solutions to problems relating to the technical needs of the team.
- Generate procedure documentation.
- Create slides for presentations to project leadership, collaborators, and management.
- Collaborate with other scientists and engineers in the implementation of safety guidelines for experimental operations by applying technical knowledge, policy research, and collaboration with safety professionals.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the fabrication, purchasing, and hardware assembly for projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, project management, or related field.
- Experience being in a laboratory or machine shop-like environment.
- Sufficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment, document analyses, and prepare, present, and explain technical information.
- Strong initiative, interpersonal skills, creativity, and ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects with competing needs in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications We Desire
- Master’s degree in an engineering field, project management, or related field.
- Experience leading diverse teams successfully .
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and experience implementing project management tools/practices.
- Experience conducting experiments in a laboratory environment.
- Experience contributing to implementation of a software system, process efficiency, or wide-reaching procedure.

Security Clearance
None required. However, if your assignment is longer than 179 days cumulatively within a calendar year, you must go through the Personal Identity Verification process.
