Pay Rate
$5,630 - $7,610 /Monthly

Visiting Faculty Program (WDTS) – Summer 2023 Term

This listing is for selected Office of Science (SC) WDTS Visiting Faculty Program participants. If you have not previously applied to the Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientist (WDTS) Program and been selected by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) Lab Education Director (LED) please visit https://science.osti.gov/wdts to learn more about the WDTS Program.
The Visiting Faculty Program (VFP) seeks to increase the research competitiveness of faculty members and their students at institutions historically underrepresented in the research community in order to expand the workforce vital to the Department of Energy (DOE) mission areas. It is intended to support the professional development of current faculty members who have the desire to increase the competitiveness of their own independent research at their home institution through scientific research collaborations with DOE laboratory scientists.
In this role you will
- Collaborate with LLNL research staff on a project of mutual interest.
- Complete the full 10 week program.
- Complete the entrance and exit surveys through the online system provided at the beginning and the end of the assignment
- Participate in professional scientific meetings at the request of the LLNL research advisor.
- Make an oral presentation on the outcome of the research activities.
- Complete and submit a research project report.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Notification of acceptance into the Office of Science Visiting Faculty Program.
- Must be a full-time faculty member at an accredited U.S. degree granting, postsecondary, institution of higher education historically underrepresented in the U.S. research community.

Security Clearance
None required. However, this position involves U.S. Export Control; this work must be performed by a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. national, or U.S. protected individual (e.g., refugee, asylee)).
If your assignment is longer than 179 days cumulatively within a calendar year, you must go through the Personal Identity Verification process. This process includes completing an online background investigation form and receiving approval of the background check. (This process does not apply to foreign nationals.)
