Thomas Christopher Meier

Thomas Christopher Meier, a Livermore resident, died May 5 at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco. He was 52.

Meier was born June 4, 1955, in Milwaukee, Wis. He received a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and a master’s degree in materials science from Michigan Tech in Breakneck, Mich.

In 1980, he moved to Livermore. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum in Pleasanton. He joined LLNL in 1986, where he contributed to a variety of programs during his 20 years at the Lab.

His interests included carpentry, architecture, photography and electronics. He was a member of the Tri-Valley Stargazers astronomy club and a musician. In recent years, he enjoyed attending concerts and festivals with his daughter and her friends. He and his family were avid campers and traveled to the Northern California coast, particularly Fort Bragg in the summer to camp, hike and enjoy scenery.

Meier is survived by his wife, Vickey, and daughter, Darlene, of Livermore; father, Thomas Sr.; sisters, Mary of Milwaukee, and Judene of Elkhorn, Wis.

A funeral service will be held today (May 9) at 10 a.m. at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Resurrection, 20104 Center St., Castro Valley. Burial will follow at Lone Tree Cemetery in Hayward.
