Samuel B. Lewis

Samuel Lewis, a Lab retiree who had worked at the Nevada Test Site, died Nov. 3. He was 81.

Born Nov. 26, 1926, in Marysville, Ohio, Lewis moved from California to Nevada in late 1960 to work at the Nevada Test Site for the Laboratory in the electronics engineering group. He retired in May 1987.

A man of few spoken words, he proposed to his future wife Joan in a letter, shortly after he began his employment with the Lab. They were married for almost 48 years.

Lewis had many friends and was well respected for his hard work and insatiable appetite for problem solving.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; son, John (Jo) Lewis; daughter, Cindy and her husband Steve Marcotte; and three grandchildren Samuel Neth, Jacob Neth and Garrett Marcotte.

A private family service will be held at his request. Cards and letters may be sent to Joan Lewis, P.O. Box 2675, Pahrump, Nev. 89041.
