Ronald W. Mayle

Ronald William Mayle died Sept. 28. He was 65.

Mayle was born on Aug. 1, 1950, at the Offutt AFB Hospital in Nebraska. He was a 1968 Graduate of Plattsmouth High School and valedictorian of his class. He also served as his junior class president. Mayle excelled in math and science and received a regent’s scholarship to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, receiving both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in electrical engineering. Mayle then attended the University of California-Berkeley, receiving a doctorate in physics in 1985. He was employed by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the University of California-Berkeley.

Mayle was an accomplished pianist, avid astronomer and tropical fish enthusiast. He held a special place in his heart for his nephew and niece through his interest in their education. At the time of his death, he was residing in Richmond, California.

Mayle was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herman L. and Clara A. Maasen of Plattsmouth and parents, William B. and Geraldine M. Mayle of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

He is survived by his brother, Douglas P. Mayle and wife, Carrie D. (Nelson) Mayle of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; nephew, William D. Mayle of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and niece, Kristin M. (Mayle) Rae of New York City, New York.

A private graveside service is planned for Friday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Services are entrusted to Roby Funeral Home, 346 Ave. A, Plattsmouth, Nebraska 68048.
