Ronald Hill

Ronald Ray Hill, a resident of Livermore and a Lab retiree, died at his home on Aug. 14 from brain cancer.

He was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Fresno, Calif., to Ray and Velma Hill. He served with the Marines in Korea in 1950 aboard the USS Toledo. He joined the Lab in 1956 and retired in 1987. He worked his whole career in the Mechanical Engineering Department. He was a superintendent for the mechanical engineering technicians when he retired.

Hill enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, cooking and photography. He was an active volunteer for many organizations, including the East Bay Regional Park District, Red Cross blood drives at LLNL, and Livermore Police Department. He belonged to the LLNL Retirees, Valley Study Group and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, sons Rick and Randy, two grandchildren, brother-in-law Ivan Smith and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Hill’s life will be held at the Robert Livermore Community Center, 4444 East Ave., on Fri., Sept. 12th, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. All who knew him are invited to attend to share their memories.
