Mary Ann Chapeta

Mary Ann Chapeta died Dec. 30. She was 60.

Chapeta graduated from Mission San Jose High School in Fremont in 1976. She married Corey Dean Chapeta July 20, 1985 in Myers, California.

She worked as an administrator at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for more than 20 years.

Chapeta was a loving mother who was dedicated to supporting her children in all aspects of life. She loved cheering her three sons on at all their sporting events, including baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, track, wrestling and especially racing. She loved the sport so much that she decided to buy out a family owned sprint car team recently and become an owner herself.

She was a positive and selfless person with an incredible outlook on life. She put others before herself and gave unconditional love. Her wonderful spirit and beautiful heart will be deeply missed.

Chapeta is preceded in death by her father Edward Joseph Azevada and mother Mary Dolores Azevada. She is survived by her husband Corey, and their three sons Ryan, Gary and Scott of Livermore; her brother Edward Azevada of Fremont, California; and her sister Edna Waller of Livermore.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or Chapeta Family Racing fund, to support the 2019 racing season that she was looking forward to so much. Racing fund donations can be sent to Corey Chapeta, 4036 Cross Road, Livermore, CA 94550.
