Marcella June McMaster died April 21. She was 96.

McMaster was born June 24, 1925, to Dudley Vail and Ethel Flint in Girard, Kansas. After her high school graduation, she worked as a telegraph operator for the Santa Fe Railroad. She married Franklin “Fred” McMaster in 1947 and his work as a machinist eventually brought them to California. She worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for twenty years (1966-1986), supervising the plant engineering print room.

She leaves behind three children: Pat McMaster (Surely) of Inman, South Carolina, Jane Silva (Gary) of Lincoln, California, and Sue Hamilton (Steve) of Reno, Nevada; six grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

She will be interred along with her husband at the Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard, Kansas. Donations can be made to help support the Girard Museum at Friends of Historic Girard, PO Box 132, Girard, KS 66743.
