Laimdota Agnese Maizitis

Laimdota Agnese Maizitis, a resident of Dublin, died March 28. She was 81.

Laimdota was born to August and Erika Maizits on July 31, 1936, in Riga, Latvia. She and her family were WW II refugees in Mannheim, Germany, coming to the United States to start a new life in 1948. She completed her education in the U.S., earning a bachelor's degree from Vassar College and a master’s degree from UC Berkeley. She began her career as a physicist with Livermore Radiation Lab, now known as the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. She took a hiatus to travel the world after which she taught high school for Sacred Heart Catholic High in Bridgeport, Connecticut, as well as college math for Bridgeport Engineering Institute. Maizitis became an enrolled tax agent, starting her own business, and was the owner and principle of Tax Solutions in Pleasanton, California.

Maizitis was a woman of rare character, integrity, excellence, compassion, devotion and generosity, a gentle spirit offering unwavering love and more. She had a special love for animals and side by side with her husband, tending the garden, taking a walk, tackling a home building project or traveling the world. She was a dedicated and adored tax preparer that loved helping people.

Maizitis is survived by her husband, William McCauley, her nephew John Omsted and family, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mara Maizitis and Ilza Olmsted.

A celebration of life was recently held at Heritage Park & Museums, Dublin, California.
