John F. Burdoin

John F. Burdoin of Dublin died June 8. He was 92.

Burdoin was born in Duluth, Minnesota on March 22, 1923 to Sidney and Anna Burdoin and raised in Proctor, Minnesota. He attended the University of Washington ROTC and served in the Pacific during World War II. After the war, he completed his education in electrical engineering at the University of Minnesota. He served in Korea and retired from the Naval Reserve with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Budoin worked at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and completed his career at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as a reactor inspector.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, duck hunting and working his hunting dog. He was a member of St. Raymond Catholic Parish.

Burdoin was a loving husband for 69 years to Dorothy Burdoin nee Koepplin of New York City. He was the father of Stephen (Carmen) of Fremont; Charles (Kathleen) of Hayward and Reno, Nevada; Barbara of Concord; Larry (Lucy) of San Francisco and Jeanne (Mark) of Discovery Bay. He was also the grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of five.

A visitation will be held Monday June 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Holy Angels Funeral Center in Hayward. Funeral mass will be Tuesday, June 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Dublin with burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
