Jerome (Jerry) Dow

Jerome (Jerry) Dow of Pleasanton died March 17. He was 73.

Dow was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Feb. 26, 1944. His family moved to Gallup, New Mexico when he was two years old. He attended Gallup Catholic Schools from kindergarten through high school and later attended college at St; Edwards in Austin, Texas; University of Tulsa at Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Kansas State at Manhattan, Kansas. It was there where he met his wife, Dorothy Shieferecke. The pair moved to California in 1967 when Dow began his 38-plus years with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Dow had a wide variety of interests. He played bridge, was a recreational pilot, made his own beer and played piano. He loved Mozart, skiing, running, baseball, tennis, cycling and travel.

Dow married Patricia Bustamente in 2003 - 44years after they met. He is predeceased by his father, J.J. Dow and his brother, James Dow. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Kevin; brother, Michael Dow; sisters, Anita Head and Mary Reardon; four nieces; three nephews; mother, Regina Dow; stepdaughter, Cameron Dams; stepson, Jarret Glasscock; and five step-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial mass at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, at St Augustine in Pleasanton, with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hope Hospice.
