Jason J. Poquiz

Jason J. Poquiz, a resident of Mountain House, California, died unexpectedly Sept. 24. He was 46.

He worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) through AKIMA employment services beginning Feb. 2016. He was hired on as a career LLNL employee Dec. 2016 in Facility Management supporting the Physical and Life Sciences Directorate.

Poquiz was a devoted husband and father. He loved the outdoors, especially camping and being near the ocean. He loved being with his family and friends. He was an avid gun owner and enjoyed working on muscle cars, and more recently, his motorcycle. He was always excited to watch his favorite teams, the Warriors and Raiders, and couldn’t wait for Saturday night boxing. He loved training at a Muay Thai kick-boxing school with his son every week. Poquiz loved life and enjoyed it to its fullest. He was a spiritual, kind and loving person. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends, as well as the many friends and co-workers he met at LLNL.

Poquiz is survived by his wife, Maritza Poquiz; his son, Noah Poquiz, and his parents, Jose and Mila Poquiz.

Funeral services will be Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. at Southwinds Church, 13400 W. Middle Rd., Tracy, California 95304.
