James W. Lyle

James W. “Jim” Lyle died Jan. 21 due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He was 86.

Lyle began working at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in April 1964 for B Division. During his more than 45 years' association with the Lab, he always relished going to work and enjoyed the company of his fellow employees.

Lyle was active in his church, serving on various committees, and for a time, singing in the choir. One assignment he was passionate about was serving as the church representative on the Interfaith Housing Board for many years. Interfaith Housing was a group of Livermore churches working together to provide affordable housing for seniors.

Other activities he enjoyed were hiking, camping and classical music, including opera. His wife of 64 years, Lois, died June 20, 2017.

The couple's ashes will be interred in a private ceremony in April 2018, on the plot with their daughter, Gretchen, who died in 1976 in a vehicle accident.
