James Steven Furr

James Steven Furr died March 15. He was 84.

Furr was born May 24, 1936 in Brookhaven, Mississippi to Joe Mike and Eunice Irene (Foster) Furr. He was the eldest of four children. At a young age, his family moved to Kentucky, then at the age of 14 they relocated to Ohio. After graduating from high school, he went to work for Battelle. In 1984, he took a job as a metallographer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He retired in 1996.

He is survived by his wife Ginny (Buchanan) Furr; three sons, James Steven (Debi); Jeffrey Monroe (Pam) and Michael Allen (Amy); seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one sister, Cathy (Eric). He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Laddie Joe; sister Joyce; and granddaughter Tonya Jo.

A celebration of life is planned for later this summer.
