James L. Cain

James (Jim) Cain, a Labor Relations attorney at LLNL, died suddenly in a chain reaction accident while driving on a Solano County highway Nov. 1. He was 64.

Cain was a resident of Moraga for 28 years. He earned his master’s degree in education and a law degree, and worked at the Lab for 18 years. He was a member of St. Monica’s Parish in Moraga.

He enjoyed being involved in his sons’ sports, scouting and other activities while they were growing up, and as they grew older, continued to be their greatest supporter and advocate.

Cain is survived by his wife, Karen; his sons, Christopher and his wife Amy of Vacaville, and Jonathan and his wife Krista of Lafayette; a sister, Kathy Kreke; brothers, John, Denny and David Cain of Kentucky; and a grandchild, Finley.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. today (Nov. 7), at St. Monica’s Church, 1001 Camino Pablo in Moraga. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that plants be sent to their home for later distribution to nursing homes in Cain’s memory. The address is: 1835 Joseph Drive, Moraga, CA 94556.
