Frederick Wilton Holloway died July 2. He was 80.

Holloway was a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles. He enjoyed a career of more than 35 years working at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.  Many of those years were in a managerial capacity with the laser program.

He met his wife Jan on a LLNL-sponsored ski trip. They spent many years living at the Muddy Boot ranch where they raised their kids and enjoyed working with their animals. He and his father, Art, built the ranch house in 1970. He retired at age 60 and enjoyed traveling and working on their various residential remodeling projects.

He is survived by Jan, his wife of 39 years. He will be missed by his five children; daughter Terri, sons Ken, Jim, Jeff and Jon; his seven grandchildren; and his sister Barbara and her family.

Holloway’s ashes will be spread in the Monterey Bay, where he enjoyed body surfing, whale watching, and seeing dolphins playing in the surf.
